"Man On Fire" Tavion Thomas Adds OSU Offer

The offers are pouring in for Dayton (OH) Dunbar runningback Tavion Thomas, and a few days after landing one from Alabama, Thomas learned that Ohio State has thrown their hat into the ring for his services.

One of the hottest recruits in the country is Dayton Dunbar runningback Tavion Thomas, and the Ohio product has been adding offers daily and is now closing in on 20 total.

After being offered by Alabama on Thursday of this week, Thomas took an unofficial visit to Ohio State on Saturday and received some good news from head coach Urban Meyer.

"I was offered by Coach Meyer today (Saturday), and I'm very excited about it," Thomas stated. "They are way up there for me, but I'm still keeping my options open and want to visit other schools. I will be visiting Alabama next weekend, and I'm looking forward to that."

"At first I didn't think I had the offer, and I wasn't sure Coach Meyer was serious, but once I found out it was for real I was so happy," he added. "All these offers are such a blessing, and this one means a lot being that I'm from Ohio. I know how lucky I am, and I'm so thankful. I can say that Urban Meyer keeps it real, and I appreciate that."

"It's too soon for me to commit anywhere, and I still want to take visits and see where is best for me," he continued. "I got to spend a lot of time with Coach Meyer and Coach Tony (Alford), and we had some deep conversations, not just about football. We talked for over two hours about everything, and I know Coach Tony really cares about his players."

With his recruitment having exploded in the past two weeks, Thomas knows he needs to keep things in perspective going forward.

"These offers are all so great, but I know a lot of other kids don't have offers, so I'm going to keep working harder," Thomas explained. "I know I need to get better as a player, and I need to keep my grades up in the classroom. I just feel so blessed with everything that's happened to me."

Scout will continue to track Thomas over the next year, and will report on any new offers he might receive.
