The Opening Orlando: William Barnes, a 2018 Scout 100 Offensive Tackle, Is in No Hurry to Team up With One School

DAVENPORT, Fla. -- William Barnes, a Scout 100 prospect that's labeled as the nation's ninth-ranked offensive tackle, dishes out the handful of schools on his short list.

Evaluation Notes:

Barnes, who also has the position flexibility to slide inside to offensive guard, played with a chip on his shoulder and won multiple one-on-one repetitions over Xavier Thomas, a five-star defensive end out of the IMG Academy. He showed a solid base with good hand placement, and also did a good job of sliding his feet all afternoon.

He flashed much-improved body control and balance as well. Barnes is more advanced as a run blocker at this stage in his young career, but certainly stepped up against the best of the best. Thomas is an explosive edge rusher, and Barnes showed that suddenness to block off his path.
