Platter makes three in a day for Wisconsin

Menomonie (Wis.) linebacker Mason Platter talks about his decision to commit to Wisconsin only one day after receiving an offer.

To say linebacker Mason Platter was surprised when Wisconsin Badgers offer him a scholarship on Sunday might be an understatement.

It did not take long for the Menomonie product to come to a decision to accept that offer as he committed to the Badgers one day later.

"It is incredibly humbling and it means so much to me and my family. We're are incredibly thankful to the whole Badger staff and everyone who helped me along the way. I was in total shock when they offered. It's a huge honor because they just don't throw out offers."

Platter has a big frame which can support more weight and also brings athleticism at that size.

Depending on how his body grows, Wisconsin has more than one plan for what he could be in Madison.

"They said I could play outside linebacker or even make the move to defensive line. They said I will find a spot in the defense somewhere."

Prior to this commitment, Platter reported interest from Minnesota, Iowa state, Iowa, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota, Columbia, and an offer from NIU.

He was an All-Conference selection as a junior.

The Badgers have former Menomonie product Mason Stokke on their roster and have Alex Fenton coming in this year.
