Although it's usually hard for a power runningback to impress at a camp or combine, because he never gets to do what he does best which is run through defenders, Tavion Thomas certainly looked the part of an Alabama or Ohio State back Monday.
Performing at the Best of the Midwest camp in Indianapolis, Thomas excelled in pass protection, caught the football effortlessly, and showed great balance and quick feet going through drills.
The offers have been pouring in for Thomas, with Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Michigan all having offered in the past week alone. He visited Ohio State this past weekend, and is headed to Alabama next Saturday.
"These offers are all a blessing and I had zero offers not too long ago, so I just continue to work hard like I still don't have anything," Thomas stated. "It was great being at Ohio State last Saturday, and I'm excited to see Alabama next weekend."
"I want to meet the Alabama coaches, and just get to know them as people," he added. "I also want to see how much they really want me, because I want to go somewhere where I'm really wanted. I know I can fit any system of offense, and I fit Alabama's for sure."
"I can play in the power game like Derrick Henry or Bo Scarbrough, but I can also play in the spread like Ohio State too," he continued. "I told Urban Meyer I can be the next Ezekiel Elliott, and he laughed about that. I like playing in the spread offense as much as the power offense."
Even with all the amazing offers Thomas has collected, there are still a few schools he is hoping to hear from in the near future.
"I would love to hear from Florida State, LSU, Texas and anyone really," he explained. "Distance from home won't bother me at all, because I'm just looking for the right school for me. I want to go to a school that really cares the most about me and my future."
