Safety Darnell Shields Holds Two Offers

One of the fastest rising defensive backs in the Midwest is Ohio safety Darnell Shields, who now holds two offers.

One of the more impressive safety prospects in Ohio is Lakewood St. Edward's Darnell Shields, and he has earned a reputation as a big hitter in the secondary.

Playing for one of the top programs in the Midwest, Shields has the attention of college recruiters and he has landed his first two offers.

"My junior season went really well, and I think I played well and tried to be a leader on my team," Shields stated. "My physicality works best for me, and I like to come up and hit people. I have good hips, so I'm good in coverage too."

"I have offers from Cincinnati and Kent State," he added. "The Cincinnati offer came from Coach (Luke) Fickell, and we had a relationship when he was at Ohio State. He offered me soon after he got the job at UC, and I'm going to visit there soon."

"Getting the first offer was a big relief, but also very motivating," he continued. "I'm also hearing from Ohio State, and I speak with Coach (Tony) Alford on a weekly basis. I will be going to Ohio State's spring game. I'm also talking to Pittsburgh, and I will be visiting there this coming weekend."
