Day has visits, posssible decision on the horizon

Dearborn (Mich.) Divine Child junior quarterback Theo Day talks about his upcoming visits and the potential for making a commitment following those trips.

Theo Day won MVP honors at the Best of the Midwest Combine on Monday and that is without football being his sole focus for much of this offseason because of basketball. Still, the Divine Child product showed no rust as far as throwing the ball.

His height and arm talent were on display and that is why he has seen a good handful of new offers come his way in recent months.

"It's been great," he said. "I got to meet a lot of new people through the process, a lot of schools have shown a bunch of interest, so it's been great."

Day has visits coming up to Michigan State and Boston College and those may be two of the last trips he takes before making a commitment.

"March 1st, I'm going to visit Boston College, then the [basketball] season is going to end around March 15th I want to say, then after that, I'll take a few visits and that's when I want to decide."

On B.C., Day says, "I love [quarterbacks coach Scott] Lofeller. He's had a lot of success with NFL quarterbacks so that's great, they have great academics and I heard they have a beautiful campus, so I w ant to go check it out."

Then there is Michigan State, an in-state school and an offer Day has long admitted he wanted.

"Oh it's great, they love me up there. The first time I went up there was last spring and we have been building a relationship since then. I'm going to get up there the 26th for the Wisconsin basketball game."

As for factors in his ultimate decision, Day says style of offense is only of some concern, but other considerations are more important.

"I mean, [offensive system] definitely is, but I feel like I can play in different offenses, either pro or spread, so I guess it's not that big of a factor but I'll definitely think about it. But definitely a great relationship with the coaching staff and academics because that will set me for the future."

Day definitely wants to decide before his senior season, maybe even before summer.

"I have to see and talk to my parents about it, but it shouldn't be too long before I commit."
