Tyler Williams was a standout on both sides of the ball for Southeast Raleigh last fall.
According to Williams, he believes North Carolina could be one of the next schools to offer.
"UNC has been talking to my high school coach and he's told me he thinks they're on the verge of offering," said the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Williams. "It would mean a lot if they offered.
"I've been to a lot of games and seen the facilities, which are really nice. It's a good program. They have a great fan base that supports the football program. Every time I go to a game, there's a good crowd.
"I've had a couple of conversations with (wide receivers) coach (Gunter) Brewer and he's a good coach. We've talked about all the great receivers that have gone to UNC like Bug Howard, Mack Hollins and Ryan Switzer. There's been a lot of them through the years."
His most recent visit was NC State late last month.
"The visit was fun and very interactive," Williams said. "I talked with (running backs) coach (Desmond) Kitchings a lot and met (wide receivers) coach (George) McDonald. I also went to the basketball game and the environment was great.
"I spent the most time with coach Kitchings. He's really down to earth and cool. He told me I would be a great fit in their program and that he wants me to visit for spring practice.
"I also had a chance to see the facilities, which were really nice. There were red lights in the lockers and red and black lights throughout the locker room. The locker room definitely stood out. The stadium also looked great and so did the indoor facility."
Williams plans to visit Charlotte this weekend.
