Kentucky set to host many Michigan recruits

Kentucky's junior day this weekend will have a big group of visitors from many different states, but the Michigan flavor will definitely be there. Here are some of the names to know.

Kentucky is recruiting the state of Michigan hard in the classes of 2018, 2019 and 2020. Those efforts will produce a junior day on Saturday which will have many kids coming down from The Mitten State.

Detroit East English Village Prep four-star center Tyrone Sampson is notable. He was offered by the Wildcats on Wednesday night and quickly reported to Scout that he would be in Lexington on Saturday. Sampson is a strong, technically sound prospect who has been dominant at every camp he has attended and been a varsity stalwart for the Bulldogs since his freshman season.

Detroit Cass Tech will have a good handful of prospects in attendance. Four-star safety/linebacker Deandre Square and blue-chip 2019 running back Jaren Mangham both have offers. Sophomore running back Lew Nichols, who transferred over from Southfield, may be close to one. Wide receiver Brandon Gray, defensive end Andre Carter and sophomore cornerback Xavier Goldsmith all have power-five offers.

Belleville High has quite a few prospects who will be attending. Four-star sophomores Devontae Dobbs, an athletic offensive tackle already have offers from Kentucky. Sophomore linebacker/defensive end Jalen Hunt is another name to watch. Freshman cornerback Andre Seldon Jr. already has an offer from the Wildcats and although he is only in the 8th grade, two-way lineman Damon Payne is already generating buzz as one of the next top prospects out of the state.

Oak Park offensive lineman Marquan McCall, a four-star prospect, is one of the top prospects attending. Two freshmen from Oak Park who the Wildcats were first to offer are offensive lineman Justin Rogers and defensive back Enzo Jennings. Both will be at Kentucky this weekend. Junior teammate Robert Daniel, a defensive back, holds several Division-1 offers.

Rochester Adams cornerback Vincent Gray is a long, athletic corner who the Wildcats have not offered, but are evaluating closely, will attend.

Two recent Wildcat offers in Michigan, University of Detroit Jesuit running back Elijah Collins and Detroit Country Day linebacker Kolin Demens are prospects UK hopes to get down this weekend, but have not confirmed attendance at this time.
