Multiple major programs inquiring about 2018 OG Maurice McIntyre

Jacksonville (N.C.) Northeastern offensive guard Maurice McIntyre missed all of last season due to injury, but he is 100 percent healthy and poised for a big spring.

Maurice McIntyre is one of the top offensive linemen in North Carolina.

Although he missed last season due to injury, DukeBoston CollegePenn StateGeorgiaEast Carolina, Appalachian State and Virginia Tech are showing significant interest.

He holds an offer from Duke.

"The academics and how the program is progressing stand out to me," said the 6-foot-3, 285-pound McIntyre. "I'll probably go back for a camp this summer. I'm also looking forward to learning more about the engineering program and seeing the living area for the students.

"(Offensive line) coach (Marcus) Johnson is recruiting me. He gets to know you as a person, not just an athlete. He also makes me feel like family."

His next visit will be to Penn State.

"I'm going to their junior day on March 19," McIntyre said. "It will be my first time visiting, so I'm definitely excited. I'm looking forward to seeing the campus and how they run their program.

"It's been really impressive how the program has changed over the past few years. Hopefully, I'll be able to speak to the coaches and start to develop a relationship with them."

As for other visits, he is in the process of setting up dates for trips this spring.
