LB Brian Asamoah Cuts His List To Six Schools

Columbus DeSales linebacker Brian Asamoah has attracted nearly 20 scholarship offers over the past year, and the three-star has now cut his list of schools to six. Who made the cut?

One of the Midwest's top 2018 linebacker prospects is Brian Asamoah, from Columbus DeSales. The three-star recruit holds several Power Five offers.

Friday morning, Asamoah announced he was cutting his list of schools down to six, and he detailed his reasoning with Scout.

"In alphabetical order, my final six schools are CincinnatiMichiganPenn StatePittsburghUCLA  and West Virginia," Asamoah stated. "I will be announcing my college choice on April 21."

CINCINNATI: "They are on my list because of my relationship with (head coach) Luke Fickell, and he did a great job recruiting me for Ohio State. I would like to develop a better relationship with the rest of the staff, including (linebackers coach) Marcus Freeman, to learn more about Cincinnati football."

MICHIGAN: "This is about the package they have for me, and the role they want me to play on defense, which is the Jabril Peppers position. They see me as able to play safety or linebacker in their defense. Learning about the school, and meeting Coach (Jim) Harbaugh to see how much they're interested in me meant a lot."

PENN STATE: "It's been amazing to see the turnaround under Coach (James) Franklin, and watching them get back to playing Penn State football. They've been recruiting me for a long time, and the relationships we've built over time means a lot to me."

PITTSBURGH: "This was my first Power Five offer, and they are talking about early playing time, which means a lot to me. It would be great to have the opportunity to play my freshman year, and use the facility they share with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I also like the defensive system at Pitt."

UCLA: "This is another school I've been talking to for a while, and they want me to get out there and learn what Bruin football is all about. They like me a lot, and tell me I'm one of their top linebacker prospects. I'm hoping to get out there and visit this spring."

WEST VIRGINIA: "I was there last weekend for a visit, and they offered on the spot. I just loved what they had for me, with their blitz packages, the opportunity for early playing time and their style of football. I feel this is a program I can make an impact in."

Scout will continue to track Asamoah and will update his situation accordingly.
