Kyler Gordon (Brandon Huffman)

Pylon 7on7 Las Vegas National Championships Day One Recruiting Notes

Recruiting news and notes from day one of the Pylon 7on7 Las Vegas National Championships...

Five-star linebacker Palaie Gaoteote, the No. 1 defensive prospect in the 2018 class, committed to USC last weekend while on a visit to campus and said he's ecstatic to start recruiting for the Trojans. The Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman standout said he would continue to maintain relationships with other college coaches and might take an official visit to Ohio State down the road, but sounds completely locked up to USC.

Corona (Calif.) Centennial receiver Manuel Allen decommitted from USC on Friday, but did say he'll continue to look at the Trojans moving forward. Allen said the four schools he's talking with the most right now are Mississippi, Nebraska, Oregon and UCLA and he plans to visit each program over the summer.

Everett (Wash.) Archbishop Murphy cornerback Kyler Gordon was offered by Notre Dame this week and the Irish offered the four-star as a defensive back, comparing him to another Everett native who starred for the Irish in Keivarae Russell.  Gordon also has a number of offers already, including from hometown Washington plus a recent one from Stanford and plans to get down to California to visit California and UCLA, who have both offered, plus USC, who he thinks could be close to offering.

Four-star quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson landed big offers from Alabama and Texas last week following his stellar showing at the adidas 7v7 West Coast Regional, and a visit to Tuscaloosa could be in the works. Thompson-Robinson has a trip looming to longtime contender UCLA next month, and it's shaping up to be a busy spring for the new Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman starter.

Fresno (Calif) Edison defensive back Steve Stephens visited USC last Monday and said he had a great visit. He was able to talk with head coach Clay Helton as well as DB Coach Ronnie Bradford. He'll visit Cal next weekend, UCLA later in the spring and Nebraska for the Huskers Spring Game.

Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic linebacker Eli'jah Winston took an unofficial visit to USC on Monday and thinks the Trojans could be close to offering him.  At the beginning of the week, UCLA offered Winston and he'll be visiting unofficially next month.  The four-star also added offers from Colorado and Utah this week.

Tucson (Ariz.) Cienega three-star quarterback Jamarye Joiner lined up at receiver and fared well there, using his speed and quickness to get open and showing good hands in tight coverage. On the recruiting front, Joiner remains committed to hometown Arizona, but several schools are expressing interest, including Nebraska and UCLA, a school he saw in action at the Rose Bowl last season. Joiner intends to continue assessing all of his options.

Corona (Calif) Centennial quarterback Tanner McKee is up to 14 total offers now with GeorgiaHouston and Virginia Tech being the most recent. BYU and North Carolina are recruiting him the hardest right now. He'll visit the Tar Heels in a couple of weeks along with Georgia and South Carolina.

Oceanside (Calif.) El Camino running back Chris Brown landed his first offer from UCLA last summer at the Bruins Elite Camp, but since then, the running back coach who offered him had been replaced. Brown took an unofficial visit to UCLA earlier this week to meet new running backs coach DeShaun Foster, and the four-star said the two hit it off really well.  Brown is planning to visit Utah and Washington later this spring and Hawaii was his most recent offer.

Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis linebacker Maninoa Tufono has seen his recruitment pick up substantially this month with offers from Hawaii, Oregon and Washington State. The class of 2019 prospect said he wants to check out each school in the coming months, along with USC, where he camped last summer, and Washington, where his father, Albert, played in the mid 80s.

Gardena (Calif) Serra defensive back Bryan Addison landed an offer from UCLA Monday and Notre Dame could be very close as well. Addison called the Bruins one of his dream schools growing up along with USC and Washington and he's hopeful the Huskies could be close to offering as well.

Seattle (Wash.) Garfield athlete Treshaun Harrison hit double-digit offers this week when Notre Dame offered the four-star.  Harrison said offers from Michigan, Oregon, Washington and UCLA were sticking out to him and he plans to take some unofficials this spring when he's done with basketball season.
