MSU Commit Joseph Scates Lands Bama Offer

One of the top wide receiver prospects in America is Joseph Scates, and he is also a Michigan State commit. Scates visited Alabama this weekend and walked away with an offer from head coach Nick Saban.

A weekend unofficial visit to Alabama with teammate Tavion Thomas has resulted in an offer for Michigan State commit Joseph Scates, from Dayton (OH) Dunbar.

Scates, a four-star wide receiver prospect, pledged to the Spartans in early February following a visit to East Lansing. He is ranked as the number-19 wideout in America.

"I first heard about going to Alabama on Friday when my coach asked me if I wanted to go there with two of my teammates, Tavion and Antwuan Johnson," Scates stated. "The visit was amazing, and it was kind of a once-in-a-lifetime experience, being at my dream school."

"Since Alabama has always been my dream school, it made everything so exciting," he added. "They showed us a great time from the moment we arrived, and I got the offer Saturday night after meeting with Coach (Nick) Saban. That made me feel great after he said how much he liked my film, and he gave me the offer."

"Before I met with Coach Saban, I was talking with Coach Derrick (Ansley), and he told me I was going to be leaving with some good news, and he sure was right about that," he continued. "It was an unbelievable experience meeting Coach NIck and getting to speak with him."

How does the Alabama offer affect Scates' commitment to Michigan State, a school he stated he was 100% committed to a week ago?

"To be honest, I love Michigan State, but I have a few other schools on my radar," he admitted. "But this offer is both unbelievable and a blessing, so Alabama is one of my top schools right now."
