Thomas, one of the hottest recruits in America with nearly 20 offers, came away quite impressed by what he saw in Tuscaloosa.
"First off, I have to say what a blessing it was to go to Alabama and meet with Nick Saban," Thomas stressed. "Alabama really is a great place and they really treated Joe (teammate Joseph Scates) and myself very well down there. The people were very serious about academics and football, but they still like to have fun."
"My high school coaches had a lot of fun, and we all couldn't believe we were down in Alabama meeting with Coach Saban," he added. "When we met with him, we all just looked at each other and said "Wow."
Even though Thomas was offered by Alabama prior to the visit, he was thrilled to see Scates also land an offer from Saban.
"It was great that they have now offered both of us, especially since this has been Joe's dream school all his life," Thomas admitted. "I saw how happy he was when he got the offer, that we both left the room yelling how we got this together as brothers."
"We are as close as brothers, and we are both working toward greatness, so this was a blessing in every way," he said.
With the Alabama visit coming on the heels of a visit to Ohio State, where Thomas was offered by head coach Urban Meyer, how would he compare two of the nation's finest programs?
"I really don't want to compare the two, but I will say they are both amazing places," Thomas insisted. "I don't really have a favorite list, and I would say that Alabama and Ohio State are both pretty much even to me."
