Evaluation notes

With a big frame that will hold plenty more weight, Shabazz Dotson is a formidable defensive tackle prospect in the state of Texas for the 2018 recruiting cycle. At least 6-foot-3 and already north of 270 pounds. Strong at the point of attack. Capable of backing up traffic in the hole.

Experience playing end and nose in a primarily odd-front defense. Projects best as an interior defender at the next level. Can improve lateral range and technical aspects of his game. Good downhill speed relative to his projected position as proven by a 5.19 laser-verified 40. Sometimes plays too high.

Overall, Dotson is a raw, but talented and physically gifted defensive tackle prospect who will be targeted by plenty of high-major programs. -- Gabe Brooks
