Two-sport star Jackson Marcotte gets first football offers

Mount Carmel (Ill.) tight end Jackson Marcotte is a 6-foot-7, 235-pound prospect with two football offers and one basketball offer.

Jackson Marcotte is one of the rare athletes in the Midwest who has offers in two sports.

A 6-foot-7, 235-pound tight end and power forward, he holds a basketball offer from Eastern Illinois and as of last week, now holds football offers from Wyoming and Southern Illinois.

"It was very exciting to receive my first two offers," he said. "It was a sense of hard work that was paid off. It also gave me the mentality to work even harder than before. Now that I have two offers I want it to be even more. It's very motivating."

Wyoming has had great success in recruiting the Midwest and Illinois in the past few classes. Marcotte hopes to get out to Laramie soon.

"I've talked to Wyoming's coaches and I plan to go visit there. I don't know when yet but they want me to get out there to see the place. Since they were the first to offer me I feel like I should go visit them."

In addition to the programs who have offered, Marcotte is beginning to hear from more schools and with his size and ability, it is very likely more will be coming through soon.

"Illinois State and Toledo have been in contact.  I'm going on a visit to Illinois State for sure and plan to visit Toledo when I'm able to."
