Iowa was the first school to offer Indianapolis Ben Davis athlete Reese Taylor. That was in December, and at the time, he admitted he did not know much about the Hawkeyes, but Sunday's junior day gave him a chance to see more of the school.
"I liked the facilities and the stadium and the coaches," he said.
Recruiting coordinator and assistant defensive line coach Kelvin Bell has been in regular contact with Taylor and was the one who initially extended the offer. Taylor and Bell had a chance to spend even more time together on Sunday.
"I talked to Kelvin Bell the most," he said, "and he told me how special it is to be a Hawkeye."
A high school quarterback, Taylor is being recruited by the Hawkeyes, and most of the other schools who have offered him, as an athlete where his speed and elusiveness make him a fit as a slot receiver or defensive back.
As of now, Taylor only has one other visit scheduled.
"March 12 I'm going to Miami of Ohio."
He says he does not have any immediate plans for his next visit to Iowa.
