Georgia and Vanderbilt Lead the Way for Do-It-All Offensive Playmaker, Miles Jones

MIAMI, Fla. -- A pair of SEC schools are sitting comfortably in the recruitment of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage athlete, Miles Jones, who also has a decision timeline.

Miles Jones immediately tagged Georgia as the front-runner in his recruitment after being rewarded with an offer back in mid-January, but says an additional SEC school recently pulled even to form a firm top two with the spring evaluation period right around the corner.

Jones, a product of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage, is a do-it-all offensive weapon that's tagged as a three-star prospect on Scout.

"It's between Georgia and Vanderbilt right now," Jones said when asked about leaders in his recruitment. "I'm going to Kentucky and Vanderbilt soon, and maybe going to Iowa.

"I'm going to Vanderbilt for their spring game."

The South Florida native has constructed a tight-knit relationship with Kirby Smart's staff, and also has family residing in nearby Atlanta.

"Really, just (wide receivers) coach James Coley is always talking with me," Jones said. "He's constantly telling me to call him. I talk to him a lot and he's a really good dude."

With Vanderbilt, Jones has the opportunity to suit up in the talent-loaded SEC, while also receiving an education from arguably one of the nation's premier universities.

"The education," Jones said when asked about his interest in the Commodores. "They really set you up for life after football, and they just really like me a lot and say I'm at the top of their board."

National Signing Day is still nearly a year away for prospects hailing out of the 2018 class, but Jones already has a good idea of when he hopes to team up with that one lucky school on the collegiate level.

"Maybe in April," Jones said. "I was thinking April or around that time."

As always, stay tuned to Scout.
