Weight gain, Big Man Camp bring offers for OT Grant Norton

Camdenton (Mo.) offensive tackle Grant Norton is consuming a large amount of calories in an effort to gain weight, become a better player and add to an offer list which already has seven schools on it.

Camdenton's Grant Norton has a large, 6-foot-8 frame which has several colleges envisioning him as their left tackle in the future.

Currently at 250 pounds, he is doing everything he needs to do to add more weight to his frame this offseason, with a lot of help from his mother.

"I'm training twice a day to better myself and my teammates who I push to be better men on and off the field. By the end of my junior year, I'm on track to be 270 pounds. I think that weight will be a great weight colleges can work with because my frame has so much to build on.

"With my current diet, I'm consuming 6000-7000 calories a day, which is gaining me three pounds a week. This means I'm eating five times a day with three protein shakes. So my mom is always cooking, I never go hungry."

Seven schools have offered Norton scholarships. He had none at the start of February, but a good performance at the Elite Big Man Camp in Michigan helped him get on the radar. Since then, ToledoBowling GreenCentral MichiganWyoming and more have offered.

"It has been a very exciting experience and a very fast process. I'm looking forward to what the future holds."

There are quite a few other schools who have not offered but remain in contact with Norton hoping to give him a further look.

"I have been in contact with many big programs such as Missouri, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, TCU, UCF, Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan. I will be making trips to Mizzou, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State. I'm hoping to find a good fit for my future and my vision as I look to reach my best."

Those schools want to get Norton to summer camp to work with him and evaluate him, but as of now, he is not sure where he will be in June.

"I'm still in the process of choosing on where I'll be heading this summer, but with my seven offers right now I'm just looking for the right fit to better my future."
