Zeke Correll

Kentucky legacy takes in UK junior day

Kentucky football has been in Zeke Correll's family for generations, but with other schools also recruiting the Cincinnati Anderson sophomore offensive lineman, the Wildcats may have a battle for this one.

Zeke Correll emerged at The Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis as a class of 2019 prospect to know in the state of Ohio.

One of the first schools to show him interest is Kentucky, which makes sense as Wildcat football has been in his family for generations. He recently took in a junior day in Lexington and spent time with the staff.

"The coaches said they liked the tenacity they saw on my 1-on-1's from the Best Of The Midwest Combine. My Grandpa was an All-American for Bear Bryant, my dad played there, and my oldest brother played there as well. So I definitely felt a sense of home there."

The experience at Best of the Midwest helped simultaneously boost Correll's confidence and gave him the knowledge of what he needs to improve on moving forward. It also, as evidenced by the Wildcats referencing his video from the event, got his name out to more schools.

"After attending the Best Of The Midwest Combine, I now know how I compare to other top athletes from this region. I ranked top five in all of the combine tests out of the offensive lineman, which is a real confidence booster considering I am a sophomore. After seeing my 1-on-1 video, I now know I need to work on my technique such as: extending my punch, keeping my hips square, working on my initial step, and keeping my opponent directly in front of me. I am very excited for what the future holds, and am very appreciative to those who are helping me along the way."

Other programs have jumped in and began recruiting him as well.

"Right now I have invites and plans of visiting spring practices and junior days at Cincinnati, West Virginia, Northwestern, Ball State, Miami (OH) and Kentucky again," he said.

The Wildcats made a good first impression at junior day. First impression in the sense that this was his first visit as a recruit for them, but the familiarity between him and the program has been there his whole life.

"The experience at Kentucky was awesome! All of their facilities are extremely nice and the whole atmosphere was great. Their weight room was especially impressive, and it made me want to get after it and start making some gains. I really enjoyed meeting Coach Stoops and Coach Schlarman, they are great guys and are bringing their program to a new era."
