Four-star WR Chase Williams Talks Visit to Local UCLA, Other Planned Stops

LAS VEGAS -- Scout.com caught up with four-star wide receiver Chase Williams at the adidas 7v7 National Championship to discuss his recent visit to nearby UCLA and other planned stops...

Chase Williams has been generating quite a bit of recruiting interest the last few months and it's now his time to start dissecting all of those possibilities.

The four-star wide receiver from Corona (Calif.) Eleanor Roosevelt is set to visit USC this Saturday, and then make stops at Arizona State and Notre Dame over his spring break later this month.

"I'm really looking forward to checking out some of these other schools to continue getting a look at things," Williams told Scout.com at the adidas 7v7 National Championship.

Williams recently took a trip to UCLA with his mother and it was a big stop given that the Bruins have a new coach at his position.

"I like the visit a lot," Williams said. "It was cool because it was my first time meeting coach JD (Jimmie Dougherty) and they showed me around the new facility they're building, which was cool to see. Coach JD is a real cool guy, just mellow, and not one of those people that will try to get jumpy. He's real and straight up, knows recruits have other options, and I like that about him.

"They haven't mentioned yet where specifically they would use me, but coach JD said I would be switching from inside to outside and would have to be able to play all over the field. They're running a strong passing offense. They showed me some of the concepts and stuff, so I know they're going to be passing the ball a lot. They're going to throw the ball everywhere. UCLA is a lot higher up now. Just getting to know him and getting to be back at the school, I liked it a lot. It definitely put more interest in my mind to UCLA."

Washington is another prominent program for Williams, but he said he's still got to establish contact with the Huskies' new receiver coach since Bush Hamdan left for the Atlanta Falcons last month.

"It affects things a little bit because I've got to get to know the new coach," Williams said. "I haven't talked to him yet, so I've got to figure that out and get my relationship going there to see what's going on."

Williams said he intends to announce a decision late in the summer before the start of his senior season.
