Steve Stephens (Blair Angulo)

Nebraska DB offeree enjoys Pac-12 visit

Fresno (Calif.) Edison defensive back Steve Stephens took a visit to Stanford over the weekend and had high praise for his time in Palo Alto.

Steve Stephens is one of the hottest safety prospects out West and has looked very good at multiple events this off-season.

Stephens had a great showing at the Under Armour AA Camp three weeks ago, earning an invite to the UA Game. He was equally impressive two weeks ago at the Pylon 7v7 tournament in Las Vegas and has established himself as arguably the best cover safety in the region.

This past weekend, Stephens visited Stanford for the Cardinal Junior Day and said he had a great time.

"That was my first time ever visiting Stanford and I really liked it a lot," Stephens said. "There were only about eight or nine of us there, it was  a pretty small group so it was cool to watch practice and meet all the coaches. The campus is beautiful, that's what really stood out to me.

"I love the coaching staff too and got to spend a lot of quality time with them. Coach Shaw is really down to earth, just a very nice  guy and I liked talking with Coach Akina, the DB Coach too. He reminds me a lot of Coach Perry, my H.S DB coach and would be a good guy to play for."

The Cardinal have yet to offer Stephens but that could be a matter of time.

"They need to see a test score from me first," Stephens said. "I'm going to take both the SAT and ACT this Spring and I'm confident I'll score high enough to qualify there. Stanford is a great option for me and moving forward, they're definitely a program I'm going to have high on my list.

"My next visit will be to Cal next week and I still plan to visit UCLA at some point too. I've already been to USC and I would like to check out Nebraska for their Spring Game as well."
