Florida and LSU Are Firmly on the Visit Radar for the Nation's Fourth-Ranked Inside Linebacker, Kenny Bastida

Scout 300 inside linebacker and South Florida native, Kenny Bastida, has a decision timeline and multiple visits in mind for over spring.

A pair of SEC programs, including the in-state Florida Gators, are likely to receive offseason visits from the nation's fourth-ranked inside linebacker and Scout 300 prospect, Kenny Bastida, a product of talent-rich Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High.

"No one is really leading as of now, but I do know that I'll most likely be at LSU on March 18 and Florida on the 25th.

"If Florida offers during the spring, they would be high in contention."

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound Bastida, who is also tagged as the nation's 283rd-ranked player overall on Scout, continues to play the waiting game with Jim McElwain and the Gators, but it's been nearly a year since LSU went all in by delivering his first SEC offer.

"Well, for starters, LSU is short on linebackers and I'm confident I can play all the linebacker positions in any scheme," Bastida said. "LSU also produces some of the best defensive players in the NFL, so why not consider joining that elite program?"

The four-star prospect is generating a significant buzz among schools out of each Power Five conference, including Indiana, which chops it up with Bastida on a daily basis.

"(Linebackers) coach (William) Inge has been hitting me up daily, and that's made an impact on me," Bastida said. "I think one of the things that appeals to me most about them is their strength and conditioning program.

"I saw a couple of their workout videos, and some of their linebackers are absolute animals, and that's something I definitely want to be a part of."

If all goes according to plan, Bastida will already be verbally attached to a school by the time his senior campaign kicks into gear.

"I definitely want to get it out of the way so I have more time to build a relationship with my future coaching staff," Bastida said. "I'm pretty sure I'll make a decision this summer."

As always, stay tuned to Scout for the latest developments in Bastida's recruitment.
