The Nebraska Cornhuskers Inch out Front for 2018 Florida-Based Athlete, Blake Veargis

A school representing the Big Ten Conference has distanced itself from the rest of the pack for 2018 Florida-based athlete, Blake Veargis.

A clear front-runner has emerged in the recruitment of 2018 prospect and Miami Norland athlete, Blake Veargis, who currently has the opportunity to extend his playing career with roughly a half-dozen Division I programs.

Veargis, who is mostly being courted to play receiver, has accumulated scholarship offers from the likes of North CarolinaNC StateNebraska and Boise State.

"My top school right now is Nebraska," Veargis said. "The reason I chose Nebraska is because I feel the love there. I communicate with the fan base and (wide receivers) coach (Keith) Williams almost every day.

"Nebraska is at the top of my list right now."

Relationships throughout the recruiting process are often broken off once it's time for a prospect to say yes to just one school, but Veargis believes that won't be the case if Lincoln, Nebraska doesn't wind up being his ultimate landing destination.

"The relationship that coach Williams and I have is unbearable; he is like a best friend to me," Veargis said. "One thing that he always tells me is no matter where I commit to or where I go, he'll always be there for me as a coach and friend."

This 5-foot-11, 160-pound junior doesn't have the dates on hand, but knows of a trio of visit destinations for over the offseason.

"UAB, NC State and UNC, but I don't know the official dates, so I'll most definitely let you know when I get them," Veargis said. "My coach and parents are still setting it up for me."

As always, stay tuned to Scout for the latest developments in Veargis' recruitment.
