Illini continue to impress in-state TE T.J. Ivy

Illinois hosted Chicago Marist tight end T.J. Ivy on Monday and they continue to be a legitimate contender in his recruitment.

Illinois had one of the top prospects in their home state on campus Monday as Chicago Marist tight end T.J. Ivy made his way to Champaign.

The Illini have offered, but so have several other programs including a good handful at the power-five level, so as in-state recruiting continues to be a priority for Lovie Smith and his staff, Ivy is an important target of theirs.

"Illinois' coaching staff stood out," he said. "They have a lot of NFL experience and are very great to be around."

Ivy says he does not have any favorites at this point in the process, but he holds the Illini in high regard.

"I think very highly of Illinois and am definitely considering them."

Coming up next, he hopes to see two more programs who have offered him scholarships.

"I'm not sure on the date, but I'm going to try to get to West Virginia pretty soon and also Indiana."
