Three Schools, Including a Pair out of the MAC, Have Extended Offers to 2018 Defensive Back John Huggins

With three scholarship offers to consider, 2018 defensive back John Huggins says a leader has emerged in his recruitment.

John Huggins, a 2018 prospect, recently grasped the attention of onlookers at the Opening Orlando Regional by posting a stellar 109.17 in the Nike Football Ratings, and now everything is starting to fall into place on the recruiting front as well.

Huggins, a 6-foot, 194-pound safety out of Deltona (Fla.) Pine Ridge, is currently armed with a trio of scholarship offers from Bowling GreenToledo and Stony Brook.

"I have a great work ethic," Huggins said. "If I don't get something right, I'm going to keep doing it until I do. I have a good nose for the football; wherever it goes, I go.

"I have great coverage skills and fight off blocks with quick hands. I also have great ball skills, which have been recognized at these camps. I think schools like my size, physicality and versatility. I can play wherever on the field, and do it really well."

With a flurry of additional Division I opportunities likely en route, Huggins says he's already comfortable enough to tag one of his three suitors as the early front-runner to land his commitment.

"Toledo is the top school right now, simply because they show the most love," Huggins said. "All of my options are open to whoever catches my eye, but as of right now, Toledo."

Huggins is still in the midst of finalizing dates with the ones closest to home, but already knows of over a half-dozen schools that will welcome him to campus over the next several months.

"I'm visiting UCF, Tulane and Georgia Tech," Huggins said. "I plan on going to Georgia Tech's camp, and Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida International and South Florida camps as well.

"I will be attending others as well; I'm just not sure where yet."

As always, stay tuned to Scout.
