Mario Wright had a good junior season for Homewood-Flossmoor and it is turning into recruiting attention for the 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker.
Wright currently holds seven scholarship offers.
"It's been pretty crazy to be honest," he said. "I never thought that my recruitment would blow up like it is but it's a blessing. This whole process is just a very humbling experience."
"I haven't really been to visit all of the schools that have offered me, but based on where I've been, my favorite would have to be Miami (Ohio). It's a really nice school and I liked the atmosphere. Even though Iowa hasn't offered, I liked the campus there too. I wouldn't mind going back there for a second visit either."
The Hawkeyes are one of several schools who have not offered but continue to stay in contact.
"I've been talking heavy with Iowa and Minnesota and I've gotten some interest from some other Big Ten schools like Illinois and Indiana. I've also been in contact with the coaches from Missouri and I'm getting some buzz from Arkansas but I haven't come in contact with the staff yet. Hopefully they come through soon though.
As with many top prospects, Wright has visits on the schedule for the next few weeks of spring ball.
"I had a visit scheduled with Illinois last week but they canceled at the last minute so I guess they'll be rescheduling soon. I do have some visits scheduled. I'm going to Western Michigan this Saturday, Toledo on the 25th, and I plan to go to Minnesota soon, and back to Miami (Ohio) on the 8th of April."
As of now, Wright says he is not certain which schools he will camp with yet.
