Although Scout 100 tight end Jeremy Ruckert trimmed his expansive offer list a few months, the Lindenhurst (N.Y.) High standout may not be close to final decision.

Ruckert, the No .5 tight end in the 2018 class, visited Wisconsin and Notre Dame last week. He will be at Michigan on March 25, according to his coach. Florida StateAlabamaOhio State and Stanford are each involved with Ruckert as well.

"I don't think he has a clue what he wants to do," Lindenhurst coach Nick Lombardo said. "For him, it is trying to figure out in his mind what is really the school he feels most comfortable at. They are all going to give him a great education. I think for him it's going to be, 'Where do I fit in?' "

Making a return trip to Michigan is important for Ruckert, who was at Ohio State recently.

"He's going to check it out again," Lombardo said. "He wants to make a visit there and see more of the school."

Notre Dame was not in Ruckert's top six, but after the visit the Irish are in prime contention.

"One of the things that made it difficult for him is each one of these schools brings about something a little different," Lombardo said. "You go to Notre Dame and you have the history, the beautiful campus, the buildings, the church. He knows the history of Notre Dame. I think he was kind of taken aback by the beauty of the school, the history of the school.

"He's had a good mindset going into these trips, and I think at this point he didn't expect it to be this difficult."

While at Wisconsin, Ruckert not only toured the campus and learned about the school, but he connected with former Long Island quarterback Jack Coan, who enrolled in January.

"He said it was awesome there and the guys were great," Lombardo said. "He said the campus was awesome. He loves them all."

Ruckert made trips to Florida State and Alabama over the summer, and Lombardo was uncertain if a Stanford visit would be made.

"I think he got a good grasp of what was down there (at Florida State and Alabama)," Lombardo said. "He had not gone to Wisconsin, not gone to Notre Dame yet, so those two schools he did not see."

So, when will Ruckert decide?

"He will know more once he gets back from Michigan," Lombard said. "I think that will give him more of a clear-cut answer. I know he wants to visit there. He was already there, but I know he wanted to give Michigan one more look.

"When he comes back, it might be more clear on whether or not he is going to wait and get it out of his head for a while."
