Florida-Based DT Jordan Redmond Scoops up Wisconsin Offer, Pencils in Two Visits

With no clear-cut leader in place, 2018 defensive tackle Jordan Redmond is fresh off an additional Big Ten offer and has a pair of visits scheduled as well.

Jordan Redmond has the opportunity to extend his playing career with a flurry of Big Ten schools, including Wisconsin, who stepped up to the plate with an offer Saturday afternoon.

Redmond, a three-star defensive tackle out of Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola who measures in at 6-foot, 292 pounds, received the pleasant news from Jim Leonhard, the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for coach Paul Chyrst and the Badgers.

"I know they are an amazing athletic program," Redmond said. "I'm not too sure about the school from an academic standpoint. A former teammate of mine, Carlos Becker, went there on an official visit and really enjoyed it, so I guess it's a great place today.

"I just started talking to coach Leonhard today, so I don't know too much about the coaching staff."

With nearly 20 offers on the table, including ones from NC State, Kentucky, Indiana, Minnesota and Syracuse, Redmond says the message from Wisconsin's coaching staff was simple and straight to the point.

"(Coach Leonhard) feels I would be a great fit for their program," Redmond said. "He feels that I can also make a great impact on the program and get a great education there."

Redmond tagged Minnesota as the front-runner when chopping it up with Scout at The Opening Orlando, but recently decided to take a step back with National Signing Day still nearly a year down the road.

"I feel that with the way things have been going since then, everyone has a fair chance and is equal," Redmond said.

Redmond is visiting nearby South Florida next weekend, and also travels to Texas' campus April 15.

The Sunshine State native also added that Rutgers, Virginia Tech, VirginiaIndianaMinnesota, Syracuse and South Florida are the schools currently recruiting him hardest.
