Two Schools Slide out Front for 2018 Three-Star OG Samuel Baker

Fresh off his second ACC offer, 2018 three-star offensive guard Samuel Baker says two schools are distancing themselves in his recruitment.

With double-digit offers to choose from, including ones from LouisvilleIndiana and Wake Forest, three-star offensive guard Samuel Baker says he is really warming up to two schools heading into the spring.

"Right now, Indiana and Toledo (are on top)," Baker said. "I'm close to a UCF offer, and they're on my list. Other than that, I'm just waiting on the spring to ball out, get more options, and weigh them out.

"There's also an Ivy League school that's 100 percent interested in me, Columbia University. They're a game-changer in my recruiting process also."

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Baker, a product of St. Petersburg (Fla.) Admiral Farragut, is the younger sibling of Delroy Baker, a redshirt junior offensive lineman with the Hoosiers.

"They have one of the best business programs in the country," Baker said. "They're in one of the best conferences in the country, and I love coach (Tom) Allen's leadership style."

It was just four days ago when coach Jason Candle and Toledo found no reason to wait any longer by serving up an offer of their own.

"That's another school that's solid in business. They have a great football program as well," Baker said. "I'm working on building a relationship with the coaching staff."

With a flurry of additional opportunities expected to arrive over the next several months, Baker is also just roughly 24 hours removed from scooping up an ACC offer from the Demon Deacons.

"Another good conference and I'm excited about the offer," Baker said. "I'm working on building a relationship with the coaching staff and seeing how good of a fit they are for me."

No dates are locked in, but Baker is eyeing summer visits to the likes of Miami (Fl)WisconsinIndianaPittsburghUCF and Toledo.
