Under Armour Houston Top 10 Defensive Performers

SPRING, Texas -- Factoring in performance in the drills and in the one-on-ones Scout examines the top 10 defensive performers at the Under Armour Camp at Spring Westfield High on Sunday.

DT Keondre Coburn - Spring (Texas) Westfield

In a day that was dominated by defensive backs the Top 100-rated defensive tackle got better and better as the day went along and he was dominating action at times. He is very strong up front and has the type of motor that you would expect from a a prospect coming from Westfield -- a program in the state that is known to produce top defensive tackles and send them on to top colleges. He has good explosion for a prospect over 320 pounds. Coburn has a wealth of offers, but schools that are consistently mentioned are TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M.

CB Anthony Cook - Houston (Texas) Lamar

The MVP on the defensive side of the football Cook will be making a push up the rankings ladder and should be considered in the battle to be the No. 1 rated cornerback prospect in the nation. He is taking his off-season seriously and it shows. he is in peak physical condition and has some of the best feet we have seen on a defensive back recruit coming out of the Lone Star State since Jamal Adams. He did not win every rep he took, but receivers knew they were pitted against the best when they were going against him. Offers from all over the country and he will be making a trip to Texas for the Longhorns' spring game.

CB Jalen Green - Houston (Texas) Heights

One day after showcasing his skills at the Pylon 7v7 in Dallas Green was back out competing and taking a lot of one-on-one reps and showcasing his skills on Sunday. He is a versatile defensive back, who has the size and closing ability of a Top 100 safety and the skill set and lock-down capability of of a top-flight cornerback recruit. Green has not yet narrowed down his list of favorites, but UT is a program that he admits will be on the list when it comes time to do so.

CB D'Shawn Jamison- Houston (Texas) Lamar

I feel like at times that Jamison can get overshadowed by guys like Cook and Green, but honestly it is not the case as he seems to be in the top list of everything that we cover and deservedly so. He was pushing his teammate Cook for the overall defensive MVP honors. He is a shark on the field who is always around the football. he does not allow receivers to get separation and closes on the football in an instant. Lamar is loaded with talent and it would not be a surprise to see him become a household name once he arrives on the scene in college.

Leon O'Neal - Cypress (Texas) Springs

O'Neal is a safety who performs well in the camp setting in coverage and that is a testament to his overall skill, because he is a hitter in pads. At times on Sunday he may of well have been playing corner, because he was defending some very elite wide receivers one-on-one an holding his own. There have been many examples of top safeties not being able to do that in a camp setting, so O'Neal passed the test. The UA folks in attendance also noticed his performance as he cashed in a ticket to Orlando, Fla., to play in the Under Armour All-America Game in January, 2018.

Best of the Rest: CB Dorian Camel (Scotlandville Magnet, La.), DE Nelson Ceaser (Ridge Point, Texas), DT Nelson Jenkins III (Plaquemine Senior, La.), DT Joshua Landry (Houston Lamar, Texas) DT Ishmael Sopsher (Amite, La.)
