QB Trad Beatty recently picked up first offer from Mississippi State

Columbia (S.C.) Ben Lippen quarterback Trad Beatty had a breakout season last fall and his recruitment is picking up steam.

Trad Beatty played at a very high level last season.

Due to his efforts, his recruitment is gaining momentum and he picked up his first scholarship offer from Mississippi State earlier this month.

"The offer definitely means a lot," said the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Beatty. "I wasn't expecting them to be the first, but I'm thankful they did and looking forward to learning more about Mississippi State.

"I definitely plan on attending their spring game (April 8). It will be my first time there and I'm looking forward to the trip. I'm excited to check out the campus, see the fans, and what Mississippi State has to offer. I'll also go to one of their camps this summer."

Quarterbacks coach Brent Elliott is recruiting Beatty for the Bulldogs.

"Our relationship has continued to grow," Beatty said. "We've talked on the phone and gotten to know each other well. He has a great quarterback background and believes in his players."

Along with Mississippi State, Beatty is receiving significant interest from DukeNorth CarolinaNC StateSouth Carolina and Virginia Tech.

His most recent visit was to Duke a few weeks ago.

"It's a great school and has great academics,” Beatty said. “Academics are very important me. They also have great coaches and great facilities. I had a great time and really enjoyed the visit.

"My favorite part was talking with coach (David) Cutcliffe and (offensive coordinator) coach (Zac) Roper. It was great getting to know them better."

He will visit Georgia and Virginia Tech soon.

As a junior, Beatty completed 124-of-193 passes for 17 touchdowns and rushed for 682 yards and four more scores.
