DB Shamar Whestone Seeing Recruitment Pick Up

Upland (Calif.) defensive back Shamar Whestone is finally starting to see his recruitment pick up...

Upland (Calif.) defensive back Shamar Whestone (5-11, 192) picked up his first two offers earlier this month.

"I got my first two offers from New Mexico and Fresno State," said Whestone.  "It felt good to get them.  Now I just want to keep grinding for more.  I'm hungry for more."

Whestone said schools like him as a cornerback but his versatility has him open to more options.

"I prefer corner, but I can always play safety and nickel as well," said Whestone.  "Schools just want me in the secondary."

Other schools recruiting Whestone come from the Mountain West and he's hoping to hear more from the Pac-12.

"I'm hearing from Boise State and Wyoming and I think Hawaii could offer and I also like Oregon StateWashington and Washington State," said Whestone.

Academically, Whestone has a 3.0 and will take the SAT and ACT this spring.
