3-star RB Chuck Wick Has Early Offers

Ventura (Calif.) running back Chuck Wick has a number of early offers and he's all set at a new school...

Ventura (Calif.) running back Chuck Wick (5-10, 180) has made the move across town to play for the storied Cougar football program.

A program that has produced some of the most productive backs in Ventura County history, Wick is hoping the move from St. Bonaventure to Ventura will have him mentioned among the Cougar greats.

"Ventura has a really good tradition and has had some really good running backs over there, like Tyler Ebell (the state single-season record holder for rushing yards) and hopefully, I can be one of those too," said Wick.

Wick heads to Ventura with four offers in too.

"I have offers from WyomingSan Jose StateNevada and Hawaii," said Wick.  "They've all offered me as a running back and want me to do some special teams too."

A number of schools are keeping an eye on Wick too.

"I've been talking to Iowa StateNew Mexico StateWashington and Washington State," said Wick.  "And I like USC and UCLA too.  I grew up watching them both and they're both close by so I want to check them out."

Wick's brother, Shaun Wick, just wrapped his career at Wyoming, and the Cowboys were one of his first offers.

Schools like Wick's versatility and are recruiting him as an athlete.

"All the schools like that I can do special teams and play running back, but some like me as a receiver too," said Wick.

Wick has worked in the offseason on receiver routes too, with another former Cougar, Chris Thomas, who spent seven seasons in the NFL.

"I've been working this offseason with my receiver coach, Chris Thomas, and he's been really working with me on my routes," said Wick.

With the transition to Ventura and getting dialed in with the program, Wick doesn't want to rush his recruitment.

"I'm going to wait to decide after the season," said Wick.  "I'm wanting to keep open the process and see if I can get some more offers."
