Top 100 DT Keondre Coburn Talks UA Game Invite and Recruitment

Scout caught up with the No. 1 rated defensive tackle in the Lone Star State to get a recruiting update and talk about his selection to the Under Armour All-America Game.

Keondre Coburn, a 6-foot-1, 326-pound defensive tackle from Spring (Texas) Westfield was one of the top performers at the UA Camp in Houston on Sunday and after that performance he was honored with a selection to the 2018 Under Armour Game.

"I am happy," Coburn said with a big smile on his face. "I am blessed to be honest. It was a surprise. I came out here worked hard and performed the best I could and did my best, so I am happy with my performance."

"I am going to go out there and perform. Each year H-town is taking over to be honest. Ed (Ed Oliver), Marvin (Marvin Wilson), so you gotta take over for Houston, for Texas, period."

Coburn has a big offer list that includes programs from coast-to-coast, but when guessing the stand outs on it we rolled with TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M.

While he has not whittled the choices down those are three schools that are heavy in the game.

"You are right with the top three, well not the top three, but the top three for right now," Coburn confirmed.

Texas - "Texas is on top right now. It is just the same coaching staff that was at UH and I always liked the coaches at U-of-H , they just got to a better looking school I guess."

TCU - "TCU has been talking to me since I started recruiting. I love them to death."

Texas A&M - "A&M was my third offer and they have been talking to me ever since then, so I will never forget them."

"Every school is the same, but to be honest right now rising up is Oregon. I really want to get out thee and meet the coaching staff in person, because on the phone they just talk right and I can tell they would be right for me."

Coburn does not have a timeline for his commitment or a specified cut-down list at this point.

"I am just hoping I get more (offers) right now," Coburn said. "I will narrow down my decision sometime around spring ball, I don’t know, just whatever feels right."
