One of the top freshmen football players in Ohio last season was St. Clairsville offensive tackle Ja'von Lyons, and he is listed as one of the top overall prospects in-state for the 2020 class.
Lyons is a multi-sport athlete who uses his size and quick feet to his advantage on the football field.
"I started this past season at right tackle for us, and I thought I played pretty well for a freshman," Lyons stated. "I think my run blocking was what I did the best, and my coaches were pleased with my play."
"I know I need to keep improving as a player, and I'm working hard on all aspects of the game," he added. "I also play basketball and throw the shot put, but I want to play college football one day."
Although recruiting is just now getting started for Lyons, there are teams showing interest. He is planning to make several camp appearances this summer at top programs.
"My head coach has told me that there are Big Ten and MAC schools that have talked to him about me, but he didn't tell me specifically which ones they are," he explained.
"I want to go to some college camps this summer, and I'm looking at schools like Ohio State, Cincinnati and Penn State," Lyons said. "I really don't have one favorite team, and I would be honored by any team that would show interest in me."
