Recruiting Update with Four-Star QB Casey Thompson

Scout gets a recruiting update from four-star quarterback Casey Thompson, who talks about a wide amount of national interest as well as recent unofficial visits to North Carolina and Texas...

Casey Thompson, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound quarterback from Southmoore (Okla.) helped lead Fast 7v7 to the championship at the Pylon 7v7 in Dallas on Saturday.

"Today was my first seven-on-seven," Thompson said of the experience. "They asked me to come play for Team Fast out of Houston and I am enjoying it so far. They have a strong receiving corp and a lot of weapons to throw to, so I really appreciate being around the guys and getting some exposure and getting throw and make reads out there."

Thompson is considered to be one of the top quarterback recruits in the nation, and he has been getting a wide amount of recruiting interest from all of the major college conferences.

"Recently I have been getting offers or just recruiting attention from schools like Alabama, Tennessee, Oregon, I have been talking to Arizona State a lot, North Carolina, Texas are just some schools like that I have been talking to. It has been a long process for me and I am really enjoying it so far."

Thompson has made recent stops in at Texas and North Carolina and both schools have extended offers.

"Those are definitely two schools I am serious about and vice versa," Thompson informed. "North Carolina has been on me for a long time and is full court pressing me and I really enjoyed my time out there, but I really like Texas too. Those are my most recent visits, but like I said I got some other schools recruiting me. I am still wide open right now. I am not narrowing it down or naming any top schools right now."

North Carolina - "I went out there for the junior day. I went out there for the North Carolina-Duke basketball game. So I was on a two or three day unofficial visit out there and it was really cool. It was a crazy experience they rolled out the red caret for me and I had a lot of fun out there."

Texas - "They are recruiting me hard still and I am still looking at Texas right now and I talk to coach (Tim) Beck and coach (Tom) Herman almost daily. Like I said I am not close to committing anywhere right now, but Texas is still a school that is recruiting me very hard."

As a junior, Thompson completed 187-of-301 passes for 2,730 and 28 touchdowns. He also rushed for 586 yards and 14 scores, giving him an impressive 42 TD season.
