Scout looks at Penn State's No. 1 recruiting class, which features 5-star Micah Parsons on defense

In the first of two parts, Scout examines the defensive players in Penn State's No. 1-ranked recruiting class.

Recruits within the East region and many beyond all agree Penn State, fresh off a Big Ten title, is back to being the dominant program in the area, so it stands to reason recruiting is going well.

How well?

The Nittany Lions sit No. 1 in Scout's class of 2018 rankings, and they are cleaning up in-state and also with several marquee commits from outside of the region.

In the first of this two-part feature (video is at the top of the page), Scout takes a look at the defensive players committed to the Nittany Lions. Of the 11 commits, five are on the defensive side of the ball.

Micah Parsons, a defensive end from Harrisburg (Pa.) High, is the marquee name as the No. 2 player in the country, but there is much more.

A trio of in-state linebackers -- Mechanicsburg Cumberland Valley's Charlie Katshir, Erie Mercyhurst's Jesse Luketa and Perkasie Pennridge's Nick Tarburton -- and Scout 300 safety Isaiah Humphries of Sachse (Texas) High also pledged to the Nittany Lions.
