Visit, offer, put PSU "high" on OT Bryce Effner's list

Aurora (Ill.) Metea Valley offensive tackle Bryce Effner visited Penn State and came away with an offer which has the Nittany Lions high on his list

Offensive tackle Bryce Effner visited Penn State on Wednesday and Thursday, and was offered by the Nittany Lions, his first Big Ten offer.

"I would say the most surprising thing about the visit would be the amount of time I spent hands on with [head coach James Franklin] and the level of detail they put into everything from facilities to academics," he said.

Effner holds several other offers including Kansas and Kansas State but Penn State is going to be a top contender in the race for his commitment.

"Penn State is absolutely in the top of my list and I look forward to creating a better connection with the coaches."

That connection is off to a good start after this visit. Area recruiter Ricky Rahne was in contact first and then Franklin and offensive line coach Matt Limegrover added to that.

"My impression of Coach Limegrover was he really enjoyed his job and cared about his linemen and would push me to the best of my ability. My impression of Coach Franklin was his persona. He gave off of confidence and the ability to lead anybody to do great things, he not only talked to me but inspired me."

Effner says he does not have any additional visits planned for the moment because he wants to focus on school and training.

He says he will take additional visits in the summer.
