Watch 'Bama 3-star DT Timaje Porter perform at The Opening New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS -- Scout was on hand to see one of Alabama's top interior defensive lineman, Timaje Porter, in action at The Opening New Orleans. We take a closer look.

Evaluation Notes: Theodore (Ala.) defensive lineman Timaje Porter checked in at just under 6-foot-2, 340 pounds over the weekend in New Orleans. He said he was down to 320 pounds in the winter and added muscle to get back up to his noseguard frame. With a low center of gravity and better quickness than his size suggests, Porter held his own against interior offensive linemen for most of the day. He got off of the football fairly quickly and used his hands better than most en route to the passer, though he was less effective once he moved laterally and was shifted off of his path. Among the most open, coachable and eager prospects at the camp, added lower body strength would benefit Porter's balance and body control at the next level.

Recruiting Notes: Porter was originally planning to make a March decision, but will now take his time despite the same top two of Auburn and LSU. The Baton Rouge, La. program has yet to offer Porter a scholarship. Full recruiting update below:
