Recruiting Update with Four-Star WR Jalen Preston

Scout 100 wide receiver Jalen Preston has over 20 offers and is sorting through options on the recruiting trail. Who has he visited and what stops are coming up?

Jalen Preston, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver from Manvel (Texas) High is starting to sort through his heavy offer list by making some visits.

"I have been to Oklahoma Sooners and I have been to A&M," Preston said. "The (highlight of the) trip to OU? Probably the new facility they are getting. The way they described it is amazing. Texas A&M, (the highlight was) how they say they are going to make me feel like family if I decide to go to A&M."

Preston has a big trip coming up in April, and you can bet your bottom dollar that former Manvel stars Deontay Anderson and D'Vaughn Pennamon will try to be in his ear about being on campus.

"Ole Miss visit coming up, April 18th," Preston confirmed.

Preston -- who mentioned that he would be interested if offers were to come in from Alabama, Florida, or USC -- is not really narrowing his focus too much or putting a cut-down list of schools together.

He is taking his time and soaking it in.

"What I look for (in a college) is if I am going to get the ball and how I am going to compete my first year going there," Preston said. "How am I going to compete and what would my position be."

Preston was one of the top performers at The Under Armour Camp last Sunday. He will play in the Under Armour All-America Game in January, 2018.

Under Armour Camp Eval: Preston is a physical presence at the wide receiver position and he has a unique set of skills at the position. He uses his body well to shield defenders from the football, but what I really liked to see from him on Sunday was strong hands. He made some of the camp's toughest catches in tight coverage. He is also a tremendous leaper -- which also makes him a great basketball player -- and some of the plays where he used his vertical ability were highlight moments of the day.

Preston finished his junior season with 33 catches for 664 yards and 10 touchdowns on 20.1 yards per reception. He also returned two punts for TD's and one kickoff for a score as he helped Manvel to a 13-1 record and the Texas Class 5A Division I state quarterfinals.
