4-star Bussell has Iowa on top, other Big Tens interested

Iowa has the lead for Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers four-star cornerback/wide receiver Dashon Bussell, but a couple other Big Ten programs are showing interest and had him up for a visit.

DaShon Bussell is listed as a four-star receiver, but he has been playing more cornerback at camps this offseason and his 6-foot-1 frame and athleticism has allowed him to stand out at those events including Saturday's United Stars Chicago Showcase.

He has also continued to visit top programs in the Midwest.

"I've visited MinnesotaIowa and Michigan State," he said.

Of those schools, the Hawkeyes are the only ones who have offered, and they stand out above the pack at the moment.

"They're definitely first right now," he said. "They showed me the most interest and how they want me as a player not as a position.

"The relationship with me and the coaches is really good right now. They have me high on their list and they're out to get me ever day, texting me, staying in contact with me. I stayed with a player two weekends ago and stayed the night, had fun."

The Gophers have not offered yet, but "they're close," Bussell says. He had a chance to sit down with head coach P.J. Fleck on his visit.

"I had a meeting with him. He's very energetic, he knows his plans and is all about his teammates."

The same goes with Michigan State.

"They say I'm definitely an offer kind of guy. They're telling me to be patient and they still want me. They text me every day send letters."

Bussell wants to visit more schools coming up, but is not certain where yet. He does know where some of his camp stops will be.

"I'm going to go down to Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan, I'll try to get to LSU, then go around to The Opening and Under Armour coming up."
