Hurricanes commit talks new Michigan State offer

Miami (Fla.) Carol City defensive tackle Randy Russell talks about his visit to Michigan State, where he picked up an offer.

Michigan State had several prospects from Miami up to campus on Friday and one of them, defensive back Randy Russell, added an offer from the Spartans.

"They have a lot of tradition," the Miami (Fl) Hurricanes commit said. "They're one of the most prestigious schools in the Big Ten and it's good to receive an offer from them."

Russell had a chance to speak with the coaching staff before they extended the offer.

"They like the way I play because I play physical. [Defensive backs coach Harlon Barnett] really loves how I play. They're recruiting me as a safety."

When asked where he stands with his commitment to the Hurricanes, Russell said, "I'm pretty much planning everything out still, but I like the attention I'm getting from [Michigan State]."

He added that, despite his commitment, FloridaGeorgiaMichigan and Virginia Tech are all "coming pretty hard" after him.
