2018 Rankings Risers in the Southeast Region

Who were some of the 2018 'Rankings Risers' in the Southeast Region?

WR Jordyn Adams - Cary (N.C.) Green Hope
Adams is an explosive player on the outside who is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. His combination of elite speed, quickness and overall athleticism make him one of the most dynamic receivers in the country. He is not tipping his hand when it comes to his recruitment, but his father is an assistant at North Carolina, so that should help the Tar Heels' chances. However, keep an eye on Alabama, Clemson, LSU, and Ohio State. -- Michael Clark

CB Sevyn Banks - Orlando (Fla.) Jones
Banks, who tested exceptionally well at The Opening Orlando, is a fluid athlete who accelerates to the ball with ease. He shows anticipation and a burst when exploding out of his stance, and possesses the speed down the field to track down speedy ball carriers. Banks is an efficient receiver as well, so getting vertical for the ball comes natural to him. With visits locked in with Ohio State (April 15) and Virginia Tech (April 22), Banks does not have a No. 1 school in his recruitment, but keep an eye on Florida. -- Corey Bender

TE Glenn Beal - River Ridge (La.) John Curtis Christian
Beal has emerged as the top tight end prospect in Louisiana. His 6-foot-4, 250-pound frame also would allow him to play defensive end or possibly even offensive tackle in college, though most schools appear to want him as a big, well-rounded tight end. Beal holds double-digit offers, including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Mississippi. -- Gabe Brooks

WR Ja'Marr Chase Metairie (La.) Archbishop Rummel
Chase has proven among the best wideouts in a loaded 2018 receiver crop in the state of Louisiana. He's built like a safety or outside linebacker with the athleticism to beat defenses over the top. Chase has about 30 offers, including Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, TCU, and Tennessee. -- Gabe Brooks

QB Justin Fields - Harrison (La.)
Having it all or checking all the boxes is overused in this industry, but not when the conversation surrounds Justin Fields. He is big, he is strong, well put together, can make all the throws and is among the top athletes among quarterbacks in the country as well. The Penn State commitment, who other schools across America haven't soon slowed down for, commands attention off the field with the way he carries himself as well. Fields is the type of prospect you can build a program around. -- John Garcia

S Joseph Foucha - New Orleans (La.) McDonogh
Foucha makes an impact in all three phases of the game for his high school team. Most likely a safety in college with the ability to move around the secondary, Foucha eats up territory as a back-end cover man, but also thrives as a hitter. He holds a couple of dozen offers, including schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M, and others. -- Gabe Brooks

CB Corione Harris (La.) Landry-Walker
Harris possesses a long, wiry-strong frame that will translate to a potentially position-versatile role in college. He plays with great awareness and locates the ball well. Harris committed in early February to Kansas and holds offers from numerous high-major schools. -- Gabe Brooks

ILB Dax Hollifield - Shelby (N.C.)
Inside linebacker Dax Hollifield continues to get better and better. Hollifield, who has nearly 500 tackles in his first three years of high school, is a natural playmaker with great instincts and a tremendous work ethic. He has numerous offers, but North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are the schools with the best chance to land the Shelby standout. -- John Garcia

WR Lawrence Keys III - New Orleans (La.) McDonogh
Keys is a playmaking receiver who can line up in the slot or outside and stretch the field vertically. Keys possesses good speed and plays faster than he tests, and he's quick off the line. He owns more than 30 offers from across the country, including eight SEC programs. -- Gabe Brooks

WR Terrace Marshall Jr. - Bossier City (La.) Parkway
Marshall has a well-rounded skill set that will draw some comparison to former UnderArmour All-America Game legend A.J. Green. Like Green, Marshall is slated to play in the UA Game in January. He has everything you are looking for to be a top playmaker at the position. Schools from across the country have targeted Marshall, including AlabamaAuburnLSUOklahomaOle MissTCUTexas, and Texas A&M-- Greg Powers

QB Justin Rogers - Bossier City (La.) Parkway
Rogers has been terrorizing the camp scene over the past couple of weekends with top performances at The Opening New Orleans and the UnderArmour Dallas, where he has showcased above average arm strength and the ability to place the football into a window. On tape he is a dangerous runner. He has a tremendous frame at 6-foot-4, 198 pounds and looks like he could bulk up easily in college. Holds offers from programs such as TCULSULouisvilleNorth CarolinaTennesseeTexas, and plenty of others. -- Greg Powers

WR Justyn Ross - Phenix City (Ala.) Central
This may not be the last time Ross booms up the Scout rankings. Long considered the top prospect in Alabama, it seems the big, strong wide receiver could threaten the top spot at the position in the entire class. Ross has dominated at the only two camp events he's ever attended, the Future 50 in December and The Opening Atlanta over the weekend, where his combination of size, speed, athleticism and continued improvement with his route-running made for a deadly combination to defensive backs. In-state Alabama and Auburn are jockeying for the state's top prospect but Florida, Florida State and others are still very much in the game. -- John Garcia

DT Nesta Silvera - Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage
This is a powerful kid who does not hold a whole lot of bad weight, but his relentlessness and pursuit to the football is what really catches your attention in a hurry. He also does a good job of stacking and shedding linemen to make a play in the trenches. Silvera really knows how to control those one-on-one situations, and is an impressive athlete for a prospect of his stature. Silvera is off the market and committed to nearby Miami (Fl). -- Corey Bender

TE George Takacs - Gulf Coast (Fla.)
Takacs is a well-rounded tight end prospect who does a little bit of everything, flashing hand placement and a strong initial punch when assisting as a run blocker. Takacs is not the type of tight end who is going to blow the top off the defense, but finds his spot and provides a big target for the quarterback. With a visit set with the Fighting Irish, Takacs' top four (no order) consists of Notre Dame, Florida, Wisconsin and Georgia. -- Corey Bender

OLB Channing Tindall - Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley
Tindall is an athletic specimen who is new to the Scout 300. He was the top overall tester at The Opening Atlanta on Sunday with a 125.25 Nike+ Football Rating. He spends time at defensive end and linebacker on tape, but when standing up he closes on the football in a flash and has the power to finish off plays. He has also been a hot recruit recently picking up offers from schools like LSU, Notre Dame, Florida and Georgia. He has an extremely high upside. -- Greg Powers

DT James Williams - Callaway (Miss.)
James Williams has exploded onto the recruiting scene in 2017 with near double-digit offers as programs learn of his unique combination of size and athleticism at 6-foot-5, 265 pounds. He can play inside or out along a defensive front, with production to boot coming off of a 90-tackle, 12-sack junior season. Williams, who recently added Georgia to his offer list along with Alabama, LSU, Louisville and many others, can also make plays on the hardwood. -- John Garcia

OLB Payton Wilson - Hillsborough (N.C.) Orange
Outside linebacker Payton Wilson is a big, physical defensive playmaker with good athleticism. He is instinctive, versatile and relentless. Wilson has a top seven in no order of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio State, Stanford, and Virginia Tech and he will commit on May 1. -- Michael Clark
