Powerhouses pursuing four-star CB Christopher Smith

BUFORD, Ga. -- College Park (Ga.) Hapeville Charter cornerback Christopher Smith will cut his list of schools soon and he spoke with Scout at The Opening Atlanta.

Christopher Smith's stock continues to rise.

He is planning to make some major decisions in regards to his recruitment soon.

"I'm in the process of trying to narrow my list down, but not sure when it will be officially," said the 6-foot, 165-pound Smith. "The schools I'm in contact with the most are South CarolinaGeorgiaMichiganOhio StateAlabamaUSC and Oregon.

"All those schools will likely make the list. My relationships with the coaches is the biggest thing. All of them are cool and show a lot of love."

Georgia is one of the schools recruiting him hardest.

"When I went down there for junior day, the trip really got my attention," Smith said. "It was a great visit and I had a lot of fun. I also had a chance to see the facilities and spoke with all the coaches.

"(Defensive coordinator) coach (Mel) Tucker and coach (Kirby) Smart are recruiting me. They're straightforward and have a lot of enthusiasm."

Michigan is another program showing a lot of interest.

"I really like coach (Jim) Harbaugh," Smith said. "I've talked to him on the phone and he's very excited about me. He told me he thought I was a great player and that definitely means a lot coming from him.

"Another thing that stands out to me about Michigan is that they're known for producing defensive backs. Jabrill Peppers is actually my favorite player and I also like Jourdan Lewis. I'm visiting on April 28, so I'm excited about the trip."

Along with Michigan, he'll visit Michigan State and Ohio State next month.

He hopes to make a decision sometime this summer.
