Clemson, Georgia and Tennessee standing out for South's No. 11 CB Kyler McMichael

BUFORD, Ga. -- Four-star Norcoss (Ga.) Greater Atlanta Christian cornerback Kyler McMichael is one of top defensive backs in the South and he spoke with Scout at The Opening Atlanta.

Kyler McMichael is one of the most sought-after defensive backs in the country.

He will make some major decisions in the near future.

"I'm starting to narrow things down, but I'm still unsure of what schools will make the list," said the 6-foot-1, 196-pound McMichael. "I'm going to cut my list to probably five right before the season starts. ClemsonTennessee and Georgia are standing out, though, and will definitely make the list."

What does he like about each school?

Clemson: "They like bigger DBs and I love the atmosphere," McMichael said. "I also have a great relationship with the coaches and enjoying talking to them.

"I talk to (cornerbacks) coach (Mike) Reed a lot and he's told me they might use me on both sides of the ball, which is something I love to hear."

Tennessee: "I had a great visit there recently. I was able to go by myself and meet all the coaches. They told me they're looking for bigger DBs and I could come and push for a starting spot right away.

"I also sat down with (defensive backs) coach (Charlton) Warren and he evaluated my film and it was great getting honest feedback. He's very sincere and I like him a lot."

Georgia: "I actually visited last week and watched spring practice. Obviously, it's an in-state school, and I love the atmosphere and environment.

"I've been talking to (defensive coordinator) Mel Tucker from a long time and he's always honest. He's been telling me he likes my versatility and that I could play all the positions in the secondary."

McMichael does not have a definitive time frame for his decision.
