Hayes, a four-star prospect, had seen offers from all of those programs come during the last two months, but his basketball season did not allow him to visit those schools until now. These visits gave him a better idea of what each school has to offer.
He started the trip off at Notre Dame.
"Notre Dame went really well," he said. "I really like the coaches and all the academics."
Michigan was next. The Wolverines have a connection there with assistant Greg Frey having recruited at West before.
"The coaches were awesome at Michigan. It was just really fun being there and seeing everything for the first time. I really liked it there."
Hayes camped at Michigan State last summer and visited for games in the past.
"I've seen Michigan State more than the other places but I still learned a lot of really helpful things. I got to know about all of the academics."
Additional offers from California, Vanderbilt, TCU and more have come, but those three schools, having had Hayes on campus, are all ahead of the game. While those visits helped him move closer to a decision, he still does not want to rush anything.
"I definitely have a better idea of everything now but I still will wait until about mid to late summer to make a decision."
