Nebraska Commit Looking to Visit Other Schools

Nebraska commit Masry Mapieu looking to visit a few other schools.

Nebraska defensive tackle commit Masry Mapieu has been part of the class for a while and was one of the top defensive line performers at The Opening regional in Chicago on Sunday.

The York, Nebraska native showed off his massive size and even had some quickness to it and obviously impressive strength. He's not very refined or polished with any kinds of move or technique of any kind and usually wins battles at this stage due to his sheer size and power.

His allegiance is still with the Huskers, though probably not as strong as they'd like.

"Nebraska is still my number one choice," Mapieu said to Scout. "I'm still looking at other schools but Nebraska is my home state. I've always wanted to play there and it feels like home and is home to me."

Despite the long-lasting desire to play for the Huskers, Mapieu intends on leaving the state and taking a few visits elsewhere, to a Pac-12 school and possibly to a few other Big Ten programs.

"I'm looking at UCLA," Mapieu admitted. "Michigan wants me to come up and I want to take a visit there. I want to visit Iowa again."

The Bruins have already offered Mapieu and he wants to use that as an opportunity to check out the campus.

"I have a strong relationship with UCLA," Mapieu explained. "We talk often. They want me to come out there. Coach McClure is on me every single week about it."

The Wolverines have recently reached out to the Husker pledge and are eager to get him on campus. The Hawkeyes haven't been in contact with him much but should see him in Iowa City over the summer.

"They haven't offered," he pointed out about Michigan. "They called last week and Coach Mattison wants me to go up there. I want to see their campus and check out what it's about. I don't stay in contact with Iowa as much but I could see myself visiting them over the summer."
