Aaron Howard

Sleeper DB has his eye on WSU; teammate of incoming Cougar WR Jamire Calvin

DEFENSIVE BACK Aaron Howard has been one of the better corners Scout.com national analyst Greg Biggins has seen on the 7v7 circuit this spring. The Los Angeles product has his eye on one Pac-12 school in particular, the school where his former teammate will suit up this fall.

Cathedral has been loaded at the skill positions the last few seasons and Aaron Howard is a player we definitely feel has next level talent.

Howard is a player we've noticed at every event he has been at this winter and spring. He's a tough, gritty, in your face corner with quick feet and very good football instincts. He's a highly competitive player who shows up well on film and can make plays at corner or safety.

"He's a baller," Cathedral coach Kevin Pearson said. "He has been a starter for us since his sophomore year. He has a nose for the football, great hips and is very athletic. I really like him a lot."

Howard was one of the standouts for us at the recent IMG 7v7 tournament last weekend and is hopeful his recruitment will start to take off heading in to the Spring evaluation period.

"The schools I'm hearing from right now are Cal Poly, BYUFresno StateUNLVWashington State and Wyoming," Howard said over the weekend. "I'm going to camp with Washington State, Fresno State, San Jose State and USC.

"I really like Washington State a lot and I'm hopeful they could offer when they see me over the Spring or at the summer camp. Jamire Calvin is going there and it's a really good school. I like Arizona State too and I'm hoping to hear more from them as well."

As for what he's looking for in a school:

"I want to go somewhere that I can play early," Howard said. "I'm looking for a school that I feel comfortable at with a nice campus and a coaching staff that I'm close with. I would like to take a few visits in the fall and then have a decision may be sometime in the middle of the season."
