Nation's No. 8 ATH Amari Burney Has Decision Date, Multiple Visits Scheduled

Schools out of the Big Ten and ACC are scheduled to play host to 2018 Scout 300 athlete, Amari Burney, who recently set a decision date.

With June 1 penciled in as his commitment date, Scout 300 athlete Amari Burney is entering the home stretch and has a pair of visit dates locked in as well.

Burney, a product of Clearwater (Fla.) Calvary Christian who projects best on defense, is armed with offers from AuburnFlorida StateFloridaMiami (Fl)MichiganOhio State and Tennessee among others.

"I'm visiting Ohio State on the 15th, and Virginia Tech on the 22nd," Burney said.

The Buckeyes provide a rich history between the white lines of the football field, but are also eager to help Burney reach new heights in the classroom and beyond.

"I think Ohio State is a great school on and off the field," Burney said. "They have a lot of success with getting guys prepared for the next level, whether that's the NFL or life in general.

"The staff is great and they all have a lot of success behind their names. Every staff member I spoke with talked to me like I was a member of the team and not just another recruit. Every time I speak with them, they speak very truthful about what they can do for me and I like that about them."

Labeled as the eighth-ranked athlete and 148th-ranked player overall, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Burney says everything he has gathered about the Hokies up to this point is music to his ears.

"The staff is amazing at V-Tech," Burney said. "My cousin, Brandon Facyson, tells me how amazing the coaching is at V-Tech and how they push you to be the best.

"That's what I'm looking for in a program."

Burney, who claims no leaders, says the "vibe and relationship with the coaches" are significant factors in his recruitment.
