Fast Rising WR John Jackson Talks Oregon Visit, More Spring/Summer Visits

Gardena (Calif.) Serra wide out John Jackson will take his first college visit outside the state of California on Friday when he heads out to Oregon.

John Jackson has been one of our favorite receivers this past winter and has really elevated his game in a short time.

The former quarterback moved to receiver half way though his junior season so this is his first off-season training as a receiver. He has shown to be a very quick learner and has quickly established himself as one of the state's top receivers. Having a father , John Jackson II, who was an All-American WR at USC in the late 80s, has definitely helped with the transition.

He's a natural pass catcher with strong hands, is a smooth route runner and has the size and strength to beat press coverage and catches the ball well through contact. He has improved his speed and quickness and has had no problems getting deep in every event we've seen him at.

On the recruiting front, Jackson has never visited any schools outside of the state but will check out the Oregon Ducks on Friday.

"I'm very excited about it," Jackson said. I'll fly out Thursday and then be on campus all day on Friday. I'll watch the practice, tour the campus and meet with the coaches. I've talked with Coach Heyward and Coach Johnson. Coach Johnson is actually friends with my dad and I met him a long time ago so it will be cool to see him again.

"Coach Taggart has visited Serra and he also came by Athletic Republic where I train with Ground Zero. Oregon was a big offer for me so I'm excited to get out there and see the place."

Jackson said he's hopeful of taking several other trips later this Spring/Summer as well.

"I'll be at UCLA at Saturday," Jackson said. "Tom Lemming is doing a big photo shoot there so I'm coming out for that and will also stay and watch practice. I'm going to camp with UCLA too and plan to camp with USC and will visit there for Spring Ball as well.

"I'm going to the Nike Opening Camp in Oakland in May and while I'm out there, I'm going to visit Cal and Stanford. I haven't talked to the new coaches at Cal that much but Stanford just asked for my transcripts and I have interest in both programs. I also want to take a tour of some schools in the South and visit AlabamaClemson and Tennessee.

"Tennessee was my first offer so I definitely want to check them out. I've been talking with Sark at Bama and want to get out there and Clemson is a great school as well. Notre Dame has been talking to me as well and I have a good relationship with DelVaughn Alexander since he was talking to me when he was at ASU."

Jackson said in a perfect world, he would like to make his commitment at one of the All-American Games but definitely plans to take several of his official visits before committing anywhere.
